Missing British two-year-old girl, A'ishah Sabra, was reunited with her mother yesterday in Egypt after Egyptian Police detained her father, Saber Mesbah Sabra, and ordered him to hand over the child. A'ishah's 32-year-old mother, Leila Sabra from Whitefield, is ecstatic to be reunited with her daughter after an eight month investigation and legal battle.
Now, with her daughter A'ishah cuddled in her arms Leila tells her story: "It's a dream come true, from a constant nightmare that I thought would never end. I woke up yesterday to a phone call from the British Embassy saying that the state police have found my baby. At first I didn't dare believe, could it possibly be true?
"My wonderful team of lawyers from GII Legal Services instantly came together, and we all raced to the family courts. With the help of my dedicated lawyer, Khaled Abou Khater and the Embassy everything was done and finally, after so long, I had my baby back in my arms! It was surreal, I had waited minute by minute, hour after hour, and month after month whilst I mourned the loss of my baby - yet here she was, cradled against my chest. I now have so many people to thank who have stood by me and supported me.
"To Gamble Investigations International (GII), I don't have the words to express my love for you. You are more than lawyers you are family. You stood by me and fought relentlessly. You took me into your homes and hearts. A'ishah and I both love you all, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Ken Gamble, who heads up the investigative agency, said today: "Our Egyptian legal team have worked tirelessly on Leila's case and I am very proud of their efforts. Full credit must also be given to the British government and the Egyptian police who have dedicated a lot of time and resources to Leila's case. This has been a joint effort and justice has prevailed."
